On any normal day, I’d consider waking up to The Radio Dept. quite a nice way to wake up. However, I discovered it’s even nicer to wake up and find a tour announcement buried in my e-mail from their PR reps. Anyone who was a fan of KISSATLanta knows that I am a massive fan of The Radio Dept and their albums sit right at the top of my albums most listened to.
It’s hard not to like music that is just as easily suited for park time on a bright and sunny day as it is for wallowing in despair on one of your worst days.
Now you can go see them for yourself… they’ll be over here doing two exclusive shows to support their new 12-inch vinyl - Never Follow Suit EP on which comes out on November 9th via Caroline / Labrador Records.
Nicolas Jaar, a very talented 19 year old producer just released a free 6 track EP of edits through Wolf and Lamb, had this in heavy rotation since. I’m honored to be playing with Nicolas and Soul Clap on October 3rd at the Hotel on Rivington.
My favorite duo from Boston just finished another great RA Podcast and in the spirit of free shit, released another free EP with friends. The EP includes some amazing edits including a remake of Cruel Summer from Leeds based Death On The Balcony, Brooklyn’s No Regular Play reworks 80′s funk into a driving house groove, and Soul Clap “Fallin From The Sky” is a sexy filtered piece perfect for after hours make out sessions.
If you don’t subscribe to the RA Podcast (which I recommend!) grab the new one from Soul Clap here.
Today enjoy this fantastic edit of a sexy classic from Marvin Gaye. Buzz Compass is Andrey Bychenkov from Russia and has quite a few originals and edits on his SoundCloud. ^_^
Today we’ve got some sexy house from the new label Shiny Disco Club based in Lyon, France. I’ve had my eye on LeBatman for a little while, and they’ve released a ton of edits and remixes for download on their page.
Right now it’s all about Kartell, aka Thomas Thierry from Centre, France. The first track Le Jaunnesse Retrouvée is a slow sexy deep disco groove, second is Desire Focus, a classic filter house track with glitchy cuts around a sexy guitar hook.
Interesting interview with Busy P circulating the internets yesterday, I feel like he’s just voicing how many people have felt for a hot minute. However a label head (specifically the label that “started” it all) sends quite a clear message. I’ve never loved / hated anything based on it’s genre, I tend to stick with what feels good and makes ME want to dance, and thankfully for me and my neighbors the Bloody Beetroots, Steve Aoki…etc. have never fallen in that category.
