I was just thinking that in many ways Techno is kind of like looking at a Magic Eye poster. You are either able to see it or you’re not. The trick is to lose focus so that the hidden picture can come into view. Otherwise if you just look directly at it, all you see is static.

My love of techno is very similar. It’s not until you kind of let your ears lose focus, that you really start to hear what is going on among all the loops and filter sweeps. It’s not until you stop focusing that the structure starts to jump out and make sense.

With a body of work that begins in 1998, Sweden’s Henrik B is considered to be one of the great pillars of turn of the century techno. Recently, he has moved towards a more commercially lucritive format of electro house. However, his phenomenal contributions to techno are still prevalent in any techno lover’s collection.
